MAC painterly paintpot
Who else remembers being eleven and watching all the beauty guru’s showing their beauty collection with all the MAC products? Or is it just me? Honestly though I was so interested in MAC when I first started makeup. When I finally went into MAC at my sixteen birthday the staff was very dismissive that I never went into that store to purchase something again. I honestly think treating someone as if they do not have money is not the way to go. In all my years in retail I know one thing, you cannot under any circumstances know how much one is willing to spend going off of their looks. Anyhow, I always wanted a paint pot. And over the years I have done some browsing on their website, I therefor knew I would enjoy the colour painterly, turns out young me was very right. A bit ago now I was looking at buying some makeup and suddenly I thought about this product. I wasn’t happy with my eyeshadow for a while and I hoped this product would be just the thing.
What does MAC say about their product?
A highly pigmented, long-wearing, blendable eye primer and/or cream shadow – M·A·C Pro Longwear Paint Pot goes on creamy and dries to an intense, vibrant finish that lasts for 24 hours. The innovative second skin-like creamy shadow formula blends smoothly over lids and creates seamless, buildable coverage without looking heavy or cakey. Its superior colour purity stays true and will not streak or crease. Pro Longwear Paint Pot can be mixed with other products, like M·A·C shadows and liners. Read more about the product here.

What do I think
For some odd reason I thought this product would be a lot more creamy than it actually is. In my mind it was more of a mousse consistency. However, I do think that the staying power is the way it is because it is not a mousse in any way. It’s still very soft and creamy, but a bit firm. It’s also not drying in any way. This is a huge plus for me as I stopped using eye creams and for some reason, they always give me an eye infection. Eyeshadow bases and eyeshadow never do. I am not sure what is up about that, but that’s a story for a different day. The paint pot does have that MAC smell I must admit. If you have any of their lipsticks you will know. I don’t mind as I only put it on my eyes. But it’s not the most pleasant of smells, on the other hand, I wouldn’t want my eyes to smell of sweets or anything.
I like the colour and the coverage. My eyelids hold quite a bit of pigment naturally but this product makes my eyelids a good base for eyeshadow. I enjoy this product immensely. I usually wouldn’t choose a product in a little pot but it works the best with the texture. I do use this product with my fingers as the heat of your fingers makes it best to apply. I do make sure my hands are very clean before I use this product. The product comes in the classic packaging we are used to from MAC. The only problem I have with it is the top. Due to the material, you will see everything on it. This is a bit annoying but nothing a wipe can’t fix. The colour stays very consistent. However as you can see in the picture below on my arm it looks a bit ashy, yet when I put it on my eye it doesn’t do this. I think this is because my eyelids are a darker colour than the inside of my arm and the skin is different too.
