Fifty Shades of Grey (2015)
So two days before Valentine’s Day, I went to see this movie. and it was something…. I read the books a while back and I kind of wanted to see the movie. I went with a group of colleagues which was fun.
Disclaimer; If you are not of age in your country and you are not allowed to see the movie in the cinemas. The movie will be sixteen plus or eighteen plus depending on the country. I suggest not reading this post. Although I do think it’s safe to read I don’t think it’s something you would like. If you want to see the movie and/or just read the post you can do that at your own risk.
What is the story about?
Literature student Anastasia Steele’s life changes forever when she meets handsome, yet tormented, billionaire Christian Grey. She kind of falls for him but he has this weird part of his life that she is very curious about.

What did I think?
Well, it was something. It was fifty shades of funny and fifty shades of interesting. I was with my colleagues and it was just very funny. I saw things that I didn’t want to see but overall it was fine. You didn’t see lots of the sexual stuff. Yes, you saw a boob from time to time but if you have ever seen a Dutch movie you know that that isn’t that out there. The ending of the film is bad (like it is in the books). I liked the movie but my thoughts aren’t set in stone yet to say I don’t want to see the others. I think I need to see the other movies to form a full opinion. It was fine but I don’t have the feeling I need to see it again.
The story is very strange and that’s the point but in the books, you hear Ana’s thoughts so you kind of know what she thinks but in the movie, you don’t so it goes like “Yeah show me what you want to do” he does that and then he wants to comfort her and she goes “stay away from me” and I was thinking you could have said stop? Ana is just a frustrating young woman in that aspect. It would have been a great scene if this was a story about sexual abuse but that isn’t this story so it felt off. In addition, Christian isn’t good at waiting until Ana agrees with his way of life. To all boys and girls out there. It is not okay, that you always wait for consent.
And something I also found strange but I already found that weird in the books is that she goes from zero to a hundred within the same day. This feels very unrealistic. This Christian Grey seems more into Vanilla than the one in the books and I must say that is a good thing. It’s good that it isn’t like the book exactly because then it would be porn and they did a wonderful job by not making it that kind of movie.
It was alright. If you are of legal age you could give it a go.
Would you like to see the movie or are you going to skip this one?
Tell me your thoughts.
Lots of love, Melissa
