The Maze Runner (2014)
This is a new category on my blog where I will write about films I have seen and enjoyed. You can search for ‘movie madness’ or ‘films’ and find all my film reviews that way. Today we are talking about ‘The Maze Runner’. I went to the movie The Maze Runner a while ago and I wanted to share what I thought about it.
What is the story about?
The story follows a sixteen-year-old boy named Thomas. He awakens in a rusty elevator with no memory of who he is, only to learn he’s been delivered in a community of boys soon learning they’re all trapped in a maze. There are a couple of boys called ‘runners’ who have been trying to find their way out of the ever-changing labyrinth.

What did I think?
I saw this movie with my brother and I liked it. The plot was kind of weird but it probably isn’t if you read the books, I guess. I didn’t read the books so for me it ended on a weird note and my brother said the same. (I can’t tell what I mean exactly because of spoilers. If you saw the movie you will understand). My brother also told me he thought it was a bit weird that they showed the whole maze so late in the movie because you have no idea how big it is. I think that was because Thomas didn’t know how big the maze was and the movie makers wanted to give you the same feel, I’m not sure about this but I think that’s the reason. I do however agree that it takes away from the magnitude of the whole thing.
Spoilers from here on out.
The way Theresa came up the elevator and changed everything was interesting. As well as Tomas’ memories that come back. At the end, there is this thing called the flare which we don’t get to understand. This results in not understanding fully what is going on and why these children were put in this maze. Now I do get it because there is another movie to be made and the book series is a four-part series, so it makes sense that there isn’t a ‘real’ enough ending. There were just so many loose ends, it was frustrating. I did like it though, the cast was great and I want to see the next one when it comes out.
Books or Movie?
Like I said I didn’t read the books but I do want to read the books. The movie gave me that feeling of “Oh my gosh, I need to read this book.” Which is funny. I knew about the books for a while but I never got around to buy and read them. When I saw that they made a movie about it I knew I wanted to watch it and I don’t regret it at all. I think the books are interesting because I’ve heard a lot of good things about them. There are three books and a prequel in the series it’s a so-called trilogy (even though there are four books) which means I will probably see the first two movies and then read the books before the last (or last two) movies come out. I read the books of a lot of series after the first two movies. Don’t ask me why because I have no idea. It’s this thing that I do, I will however write about the books when I read them. Last notes It was a very cool film overall. The actors were great! If you want to see a movie with action but also a good story this is the movie for you. If you want to see a good movie go see The Maze Runner!
Did you see The Maze Runner and what did you think?
